It’s been a long time friends. Lots to say about that, and I will…soon.
Until then, I wanted to share the newsletter I just shared with my business mailing list.
If you don’t know this about me, by day I am a coach and I work with people on getting unstuck, making big change and showing up in the world as the person they want to become. For that community, I write a monthly newsletter that focuses on a specific topic. Some of you are getting this twice (because you’re on both lists - thank you for the 3D support) and I’m sorry if I have contributed to the gunking of your inbox this morning. I’ll make it up to ya - coffee on me next time I see you. For some reason I felt moved to share this message with both communities, and because it’s all about energy today, I’m following that feeling.
Enjoy, and next time I pop into your inbox, I promise it will be content that I wrote just for you. Enjoy, and I hope to hear from you soon.

****************************************************************
It's hard to know where to begin. Our collective energy is heavy.Â
For example, I've deleted the first sentence of this newsletter nothing short of six times, because these times are hard to write about.
Before diving deeply into my topic for the month - Energy - I am compelled to acknowledge the collective heaviness of the past month.
I want to acknowledge the anguish of our American human collective, the acute and indescribable pain of individuals who have been directly impacted by these consecutive tragedies and who are presently mourning loved ones.
Personally I wish I could cocoon. I wish there was relief somewhere else, but alas, we are in it. Like it or not, no matter how your politics bend, we are in it together.
And so, perhaps this is the imperfect, segue into talking about Stranger Things?
No?
Either way, I'm doing it.Â
STRANGER THINGS
This past weekend a friend and I took our teens to the Stranger Things Experience in the Brooklyn Navy Yards. No spoilers, but the interactive event is not to be believed! If you're a fan of the show, run, don't walk!
Ok, one teeny tiny spoiler - it's a live action event, and at the start of it you are assigned a "power". When the actors call on your group, you are supposed to get into your special stance and use your assigned "energy" to solve the problem at hand.
By the end of the experience, I got so into it, that every time they called on our group, I was ready. I would hit the power position and channel all of my energy in the direction they were asking us to target. The event was so well crafted, it actually had me believing that our energy saved the day.Â
My belief in my own energetic power at Stranger Things is probably no mistake. I also became Reiki 1 Certified this month, and as a result I have an installed and confirmed belief in the deep healing power of energy. Â
REIKI
If you are new to Reiki, the very general and probably clunky description of the practice is that when you do Reiki on someone or yourself, you open yourself up to the universal energy source which is always available to all of us. The Reiki practitioner then serves as a conduit of that energy to another person's Chakras (of which there are seven). When you are attuned in Reiki, and place your hands over your own or someone else's Chakras, you are able to deliver this healing universal energy.
This is of course an oversimplified version of the practice, however it is in essence a practice that is quite simple and beautiful and powerful. When I've done Reiki on myself or others I can feel the field of energy between myself and the body. I can feel the heat of the energy transfer and I can feel the shifts in my body when I receive it. It's strange, it's amazing, it's powerful, it's invisible, and it's real.Â
Energy is real and we transfer it to one another - attuned or not.Â
SPELLS
There was a new moon on Monday. It was the Gemini New Moon, and to celebrate, I invited a group of witches, ahem, girlfriends to come and assemble spell jars with a collection of crystals and botanicals that I happen to keep laying around the house. To me, this was a fun excuse to assemble the coven, ahem, my girlfriends, but more often than not, my invitation that night was met with many of them saying, "Thank you, this is exactly what I need".Â
"This is exactly what I need" - On the surface we were simply assembling herbs and flowers and salt and sugar in a jar. But when you look deeper, the symbolic act of crafting a spell with all of the ingredients you need most for the moment, is a radical act of channeling your energy, and of putting your intentions exactly where you need and want them.
In times like these, of course this is exactly what we need.Â
Energy, folks.
ENERGY
We are like cars, and we only have so much energy in our tanks. I personally have a bad habit of pouring my reserves into people and ideas that go nowhere. This depletes me, and I metaphorically crash. I've personally have a practice of conservation, and of replenishment of my energy (rest, mediation, reiki, therapy, exercise) because if I don't, I'm toxic. My words and my actions don't match who I want to be in the world, and that's a careless use of energy.Â
You too? Are you ever careless with your energy? Do you ever spend time ruminating on ideas that keep you stuck in anger, hopelessness, resentment, jealousy?
Are you ever responsible for putting negativity in spaces that actually require something different?
Are you aware of when you do this?
If you have a moment, check in with yourself. Ask yourself what's the quality of my energy today? What does it feel like? If it was a color, what color would it be?
I know this might sound crazy to some of you, but people can see it. They feel it too. All of our energy is palpable, and it matters.Â
So why am I writing about this in my newsletter today? A few reasons
1. It's interesting to me.Â
2. Energy matters
3. The world requires a shift of our energy. The earth and the humans who walk on it are hurting. Our collective energy and intentions can heal it.Â
I am perpetually astounded that when the news is its darkest, reliably the sun rises each day and then it sets. We get dressed, and kiss our kids and go to work and individually make daily attempts at doing and being better than we were the day before.Â
It's a promise we've made to one another that even when the news is bleak, and it seems that we've collectively lost our way, somehow, we carry on. I am in awe of our capacity to continue even when it feels as though it's impossibly hard.
What I ask us to consider today is how?
How do we carry on and with what gait? With what speed? With what energetic quality?
It's not simply enough anymore to carry on. We need to become responsible with HOW we carry on.Â
If this topic is interesting to you, I could talk about it all day long.Â
If you think this message might support someone in their own contemplation of energy, pass it along.Â
I hope you take care of yourself and one another in the coming weeks. Sending all of my juiciest and most delicious energy your way. I hope you can feel it.Â
